A Lead Technician serves as the senior technical expert, supervising staff, managing maintenance schedules, and ensuring operational efficiency for equipment or systems. They require 3-5 years of experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and leadership abilities, with responsibilities including mentoring juniors, implementing safety protocols, and handling complex technical repairs.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor junior technicians, coordinating daily work activities.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose, install, and maintain equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Project Management: Oversee technical projects, manage maintenance schedules, and uphold safety policies.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert, resolving complex technical issues that subordinates cannot.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed service records, reports, and manuals.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Generally 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a relevant technical field.
  • Education: High school diploma, though a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field is often preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of specific machinery, software, or systems (e.g., HVAC, IT, automotive).
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications: Depending on the industry, specialized certifications (e.g., A.S.E. for automotive, HVAC, or IT certifications) are required.
  • Physical Requirements: Often requires lifting up to 30–100 lbs, bending, and working in various environments.
