Aftercare Coordinator
City Church Academy is a Christ-centered educational environment committed to providing students with a safe, nurturing, and faith-based experience. The Aftercare Coordinator plays an important role in extending the Academy’s mission beyond the school day by creating a positive, engaging, and Christ-centered atmosphere for students during after-school hours.
Under the direction and oversight of the Academy Dean/Athletic Director, the Aftercare Coordinator is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Academy’s aftercare program. This individual will ensure students receive quality care through structured activities, positive relationships, and a safe environment while helping to grow and improve the program.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, creative, and passionate about working with children while supporting the values and mission of City Church Academy.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the City Church Academy Aftercare Program.
- Provide a safe, structured, and Christ-centered environment where students feel valued and supported.
- Supervise students while maintaining a positive culture that reflects the mission and values of City Church Academy.
- Coordinate the daily aftercare routine, including:
- Student transition from dismissal to the aftercare building
- 10–20 minutes of homework/quiet work time
- Snack distribution
- Daily activities, games, crafts, STEM activities, recreation, and enrichment opportunities
- Create and maintain an engaging activity schedule that encourages student participation and enjoyment.
- Plan activities that are age-appropriate, fun, and promote teamwork, creativity, and character development.
- Maintain inventory and organization of all aftercare snacks, materials, and supplies.
- Monitor and maintain accurate daily attendance records and student sign-in/sign-out procedures.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and Academy staff.
- Help grow and strengthen the aftercare program by providing an excellent experience for students and families.
- Communicate student concerns, incidents, or needs to the Academy Dean/A.D.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe aftercare environment.
Daily Schedule Expectations
2:00 PM – Arrival
- Report to campus and assist with the final PE class, supporting student supervision and classroom management.
- Prepare for afternoon dismissal procedures.
Dismissal Transition
- Assist with student dismissal and transition aftercare students to the aftercare building.
- Ensure students are accounted for and safely transitioned into the program.
Aftercare Program (3:30 PM – 6:00 PM)
- Lead the daily aftercare schedule:
- Homework/quiet time
- Snack time
- Planned activities and recreation
- Student supervision and engagement
- Ensure students remain in a safe, positive, and Christ-centered environment.
6:00 PM – Closing
- Complete all aftercare closing responsibilities.
- Ensure all students have been picked up and the program area is clean and organized.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, ministry, or recreational setting preferred.
- A strong commitment to Christian values and the mission of City Church Academy.
- Ability to create engaging activities and manage groups of students.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Positive attitude with the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Pay: $16.00 per hour
