CITY Center for Collaborative Learning designs, implements, and advances innovations in teaching and learning that transform the lives of young people and their educators. The Tucson-based nonprofit offers professional development and community engagement experiences for educators and education advocates, while leading three small secondary schools that serve as demonstration sites.
Advanced Middle School Spanish Teacher, 6th Grade Educational Assistant, and After School Homework Support
Paulo Freire Freedom School-University is seeking a qualified teacher to teach two sections of Middle School Spanish. Each Spanish section contains roughly 13 students per class. We are looking for an educator with a demonstrated background and interest in integrated project-based learning curriculum, a commitment to full inclusion, an antiracist mindset and approach, and a deep belief that all students can be successful. The school’s approach centers around collaboration, thoughtful innovation, team building, and leveraging diverse and multiple perspectives.
Primary Functions:
- Design, plan and implement two sections of Spanish
- Integrate Culturally Relevant Design, Project-based Learning, Cooperative Learning, Differentiated Instruction, Universal Design for Learning, and Competency-based Assessments
- Co-plan and co-teach with Support Services Department
- Willingness to understand, practice, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Provide accommodations and modifications as outlined in students’ IEPs or 504 Plans
- Participate in professional development activities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) required
- Teacher certification in Spanish preferred
- Teaching experience with middle school students preferred
- Demonstrated success as a collaborative professional
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, initiative and independence
- Commitment to ethnic diversity, heterogeneous grouping, and inclusion
Job Type: Full time
Work Year: Based on the approved school-year calendar, starting July 28th.
