Job Summary
The Controls Engineer will use their technical expertise to lead manufacturing automation projects from an approach of people, process and systems. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with proven leadership skills and has experience in developing PLC and HMI code for automated packaging equipment and troubleshooting industrial controls and electrical systems. Experience leading frontline multi-craftsmen, developing, and leading preventative/predictive maintenance. Must be available to work and support off shift and weekends and/or as needed.

Experience leading frontline multi-craftsmen, developing, and leading preventative/predictive maintenance. Must be available to work and support off shift and weekends and/or as needed.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Design and program all aspects of PLC/HMI software for packaging equipment.
- Test and debug control systems.
- Create, update, and modify machine, part or facilities schematics using a CAD program.
- AC Drive experience with various drive platforms.
- Write and modify, extensive PLC’s and HMI’s programs for the following:
- Rockwell Automation\Allen Bradley
- Automation Direct
- EZ Automation
- Yokogawa DCS
- Troubleshoot or establish control networks.
- EtherNet / IP
- DeviceNet
- General Networking Design
- Troubleshoot systems – electrical, instrumentation and controls.
- Electrical schematic design and drafting using AutoCAD Electrical
- Troubleshoot Process control systems, in particular packaging line control systems.
- Perform all duties within GMP standards.
- Perform all functions as required within the CMMS.
- Train and evaluate trainees/front line techs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Responsible for department compliance with GMP and HACCP guidelines.

- RS logix 500 and Studio
- RsLinx
- Factory Talk ME and SE
- Connected Components – Work Bench
- Substantial Electrical Experience
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems.
Minimum Qualifications
- College degree in Electrical Engineering or engineering preferred, or 3 years’ experience PLC controls engineering in lieu of degree.
- Alen Bradley PLC and motion controls experience.
- Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement experience
- System process controls and line balancing experience
- Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, control power and drives, sanitary control principals, operation and trouble shooting
- Possess excellent communication, planning and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong leadership and team skills.
- Calculated and precise decision making
