Job Summary
The Utilities Operator is an essential part of the City Brewery team working in a collaborative environment to achieve a shared goal. The position is responsible for the Operation of Plant Refrigeration Systems, Steam Boilers, Compressed Air Systems, HVAC, Plant CO2/N2 Supply and Water Distribution Systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contributes to a safe workplace by performing all tasks in accordance with NFPA70E, OSHA, EPA, FDA, PSM/RMP, LOTO safety rules, codes, policies and regulations and Confined Entry policies
- Operate and maintain the brewery’s utilities equipment, such as large ammonia system, HVAC, high pressure boilers, compressed air systems, desiccant air dryers plant water distribution systems, water softeners and carbon filters
- Analyze data and information available, including SOPs, to help make decisions on equipment maintenance, equipment improvements and minimize wasted resources in water, energy, and natural gas
- Utilizing hand and power tools for basic routine maintenance tasks, lubrication and small part changes
- Documents daily activities during shift through logbooks and CMMS
- Follows plant quality control policies and GMP’s
- Wears required PPE regularly and evaluates additional safety measures as needed to perform all work safely
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Graduation from technical trade school in relevant field; and/or 5 years’ experience in a related field
- Unlimited Steam License, preferred
- RETA CARO I Certification, preferred
- Experience and/or knowledge in at least one of the following areas is preferred: High Pressure Boilers, Ammonia Refrigeration systems, Compressed Air Systems, HVAC and CO2/N2 systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient in navigating the Internet
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures and climates
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures (e.g. lock out/tag out, confined space)
- Ability to understand and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Schematics and Equipment manuals
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes, propose and implement remedies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Available to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed to support a 24/7 facility environment
