Primary Purpose of Job & Essential Duties/Responsibilities
The City and Borough of Sitka is seeking to hire a temporary worker to assist our full-time mechanics with fleet maintenance. This position will assist with preventative and reactive maintenance and shop upkeep. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,
- Assisting in diagnosing equipment and vehicle issues
- Performing basic maintenance such as oil changes, tire maintenance, and brake pad replacements
- Cleaning vehicles, shop equipment, and work areas
- Assisting with management of inventory and organization
- Supporting mechanics with inspections, maintenance, and repairs
Minimum Qualifications & Other Job Requirements/Expectations
Preferred mechanical experience includes a basic knowledge of engines and vehicle systems, familiarity with hand and power tools, and workspace safety practices. Additional desired skills include attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
. Applicants must be at least 18 years old; HS diploma or GED; and possess a valid driver’s license.
