The Payroll Team has 3 employees, and the Payroll Technician is a key team member. Payroll processes pay for over 850 employees, so the work is ever-changing, yet constant at the same time. One thing is certain – it is never boring!

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION:
In this position, you will generally work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Your office will be in the Central Office Building located in front of the Harborview School on Glacier Avenue. Fully remote work is not an option; however, a hybrid telework schedule may be an option once probation is complete.
- Processing bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees.
- Maintaining and updating employee payroll records with precision.
- Reviewing time sheets, hours, and pay data to ensure everything lines up.
- Collaborating with HR and Payroll teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Responding to employee inquiries with professionalism, empathy and discretion.
- Rotating regularly as a New Employee Orientation presenter.
Education: High School graduation or the equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months of journey clerical experience. This work is equivalent to an Office Assistant, Human Resource Assistant, and City Cashier with the City of Juneau or equivalent.
SUBSTITUTION:
Post-secondary or vocational training may be substituted or the required experience on the basis of: three (3) semester or four (4) quarter hours of post- secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.
