The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS), Water Quality Division, is looking for a Cross-Connection Control Technician I in Honolulu. Under close supervision, this position is responsible for performing routine and less complex cross connection and backflow prevention duties.
What You Will Do
- Perform routine review of construction plans in conjunction with building permit applications for compliance with cross-connection control and backflow prevention requirements.
- Assist in conducting field inspections and testing for proper installation of backflow prevention assemblies.
- Test, inspect, maintain, repair, and certify backflow prevention assemblies.
- Record, update, and maintain various data and information in manual and electronic files.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Occasionally climb vertical ladders up to 30 feet.
- Lift and carry 45 lbs. of field equipment; lift up to 30 lbs. for purposes of lifting and placing construction plans or other documents in a location for review.
- Ability to walk one mile per inspection.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of experience in reviewing and reading blueprints and/or construction plans.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of symbols and terminologies used in construction plans and building permits.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.
