The Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking two (2) positive, reliable individuals to join their team as a Cashier-Clerk! There is one (1) full-time, permanent position and one (1) part-time, permanent position available at the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve. In this role, you’ll collect fees at the Visitor Center and parking booth, provide friendly customer service to visitors, and assist with other related duties that help keep the preserve running smoothly.

Education Requirement
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience Requirement
One (1) year of clerical experience involving the posting of information onto records, forms, or reports; or reviewing, checking, sorting, and filing records, forms, or reports.
Preferred Experience: One (1) year of cashiering experience involving the operation of a cash register, POS system, and credit card terminal for accepting and issuing U.S. currency.
Substitution: Business school or college level credits from a regionally-accredited college or university will substitute for experience on a month-for-month basis.
Only education completed at the time of application will be credited. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

What You'll Do
- Collect admission and parking fees, verify IDs, categorize visitors, and process payments (cash, checks, charge cards);
- Issue refunds within the grace period, verify signatures, provide receipts, and assist with cash tape auditing;
- Verify cash receipts, prepare daily reports, record refunds, voids, and charge card totals, and assist with audits of shortages/overages;
- Clean and close register booths, prepare start-up cash tray for the following day, and handle visitor complaints or direct them to a supervisor;
- Verify and input daily revenue and attendance summaries, and provide general park information to visitors;
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Work schedule is 6:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m., Wednesday - Sunday, (Monday-Tuesday off).
- The part-time, permanent role is 20 hours per week.
- Work schedule and days off may vary depending on operational needs.
- May be required to work weekends and holidays based on operational needs.
- Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.
