What are the responsibilities and job description for the Authorizations Specialist position at Citrus MSO LLC?
Position Summary
This position is responsible for monitoring incoming patient orders and gathering the correct information needed to obtain the prior authorization of patient appointments. The employee will be checking insurance eligibility and medical necessity for testing and procedures as outlined by the insurances in a timely and accurate manor to ensure the satisfaction of our patients and the payments of our claims.
Job Responsibilities
Handle insurance eligibility checks to confirm patient coverage and benefits.
Contact primary care offices and insurance companies regarding authorizations.
Regularly call primary care offices and insurance companies to follow up on pending approvals.
Reach out to patients when additional information is needed to complete authorizations.
Maintain confidentiality and safeguard protected health information (PHI) and company information according to HIPPA guidelines and company policy.
Manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, completing additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
1 years of insurance verification, authorizations, and/or medical billing
Familiar with medical and healthcare insurance terminology
Professional and courteous phone manner.
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
