JOB TITLE: Criminal Offender Registration Specialist
PAY GRADE: 110
PAY RANGE: $22.16/hour - $29.90/hour; $46,092.80 - $62,192.00 annualized
JOB TYPE: Full-time, non-exempt, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, and as needed based upon the division and agency’s needs.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: A Criminal Offender Registration Specialist is responsible for preparing, developing, and tracking data and information provided to our agency monitoring the registered sex offenders and predators, and convicted felons within Citrus County, FL. This position collects and verifies documents, updates offender records, and ensures accurate data entry. The Criminal Offender Registration Specialist supports public safety by monitoring compliance, communicating with offenders, and assisting deputies and investigative staff with timely and detailed information.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Register and update sex offender and predator registrations for those subjects living or visiting Citrus County.
- Register Felony and Career Criminal Registrations for those subjects living in Citrus County.
- Monitor Citrus County’s registered sex offenders and predators’ compliance with state statutes and county ordinances including address verifications.
- Provides county sex offender and predator notifications as necessary.
- Monitors legal updates for sexual offenders and predators, tracks their activity, and disseminates information and notifications accordingly
- Assists agency detectives and the State Attorney’s Office with investigating and prosecuting violations of Florida’s sex offender and predator statutes.
- Maintains up to date files on active sex offender and predators within Citrus County and provides law enforcement with pertinent details of violations for checks and/or arrest.
- Serves as a liaison with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to ensure agency compliance with sex offender and predator regulations and procedures.
- Assists the agency’s Career Criminal Detective with organization and information collection regarding the Career Criminal Offender program.
- Assists deputies and detectives with research and criminal histories for investigations.
- All CCSO employees are considered essential emergency workers and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Proficient with internet navigation and investigative databases
- Must have mid-level computer skills to include work processing/formatting, database entry and retrieval, spreadsheet applications (MS suite), Apple iOS, and conduct internet/website research and navigate multiple systems and sites
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience navigating through various law enforcement specific computer programs and technology preferred
- Experience using Law Enforcement CAD or Records Management Systems preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequent contact with registered felons, sex offenders, and sexual predators in an office setting for the purpose of registrations and updates.
- Frequently requires standing, sitting, walking, bending
- Frequently requires talking, hearing, and seeing near and far
- Frequently requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine motor skills, i.e.: preparing reports using a computer keyboard
- Requires near and far vision in reading
- Attend trainings throughout the state as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- If a current CCSO employee, then no disciplinary actions within the last 12 months and completion of current position time commitment requirement.
