Role Summary
The Sales Trainer plays a critical role in driving the growth and success of our Independent Sales Channel. This position is responsible for elevating the effectiveness of the Independent Consultant Sales Force and ensuring a sustainable, compliant, and high-performing marketing business model.
The Sales Trainer will design and deliver advanced training programs focused on product knowledge, consultative selling techniques, and technology adoption. This role will also partner with IMOs, MGAs, and Agencies to implement best practices, leverage tools, and optimize sales tracking and performance management.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic educator and motivator with exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts into actionable strategies for diverse audiences. This is a high-development role with significant influence on organizational success, requiring strategic thinking, innovation, and leadership in training design and execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training & Development
- Design and deliver comprehensive, high-impact training programs aligned with organizational objectives and growth strategies.
- Develop advanced curricula on consultative sales, compliance, and technology utilization (e.g., sales portal, CRM tools).
- Create and manage a full suite of training resources, including videos, webinars, and interactive modules.
- Implement performance measurement systems to track training effectiveness and ensure consultants meet or exceed standards.
- Maintain detailed records of attendance, feedback, and outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
2. Distribution Optimization
- Conduct field visits to agencies and goal centers to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with distribution leaders to strengthen “train-the-trainer” capabilities and enforce compliance standards.
- Review and approve sales scripts, ensuring alignment with company guidelines before implementation.
- Analyze sales performance data to identify training needs across the entire sales cycle—from prospecting to closing.
3. Leadership & Mentorship
- Partner with corporate and field managers to assess training needs and develop customized schedules.
- Mentor new independent consultants, streamlining onboarding and accelerating productivity.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the Independent Consultant Sales Force.
4. Strategic Collaboration
- Work with marketing to produce engaging video content that reinforces product knowledge and technology adoption.
- Manage external training vendors, ensuring content relevance and alignment with company objectives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate training initiatives with broader organizational goals.
5. Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in mandatory meetings and contribute to improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate innovative teaching methodologies.
- Travel as needed to support training events and field operations.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s Degree (4-year degree) or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience as a corporate trainer or in a similar role, with a strong focus on consultative sales.
- Life Insurance: Knowledge of life insurance products, market segments, and marketplaces; ability to apply knowledge of life insurance products, market segments, and marketplaces to meet business goals and objectives.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills, including prioritizing and follow-up and the ability to handle competing demands and priorities.
- Demonstrated expertise in various teaching methodologies, tools, and principles of adult learning.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability to learn new software and tools specific to the role.
