Citizens Health is recruiting a Financial Counselor to work full-time in our Financial Services department.

Family Center for Health Care - an outpatient rural health clinic
Prairie Senior - a skilled nursing facility
Citizens Clubhouse - an onsite childcare center that cares for children 6 weeks to school age for our workforce
Citizens Medical Equipment - our durable medical equipment business
Palace Drug Store - our outpatient pharmacy

Location: 100 E College Ave, Colby, Kansas
Position Information: The Patient Financial Advisor is responsible for assisting patients with financial matters related to their
medical care. This includes explaining medical bills, verifying insurance coverage, setting up payment plans, and guiding patients through financial assistance programs. They ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, advocate for patients in billing disputes, and work closely with internal departments to maintain accurate financial records.
Days: Monday through Friday
Hours: 8am to 5pm
Pay Range: dependent upon experience.

What You’ll Do
- Assist patients with financial assistance programs
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Explain medical bills and insurance coverage.
- Advocate for patients with insurance and billing disputes.
- Set up and manage payment plans.
- Manage multiple communication channels simultaneously.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-2 years of experience in patient financial services, healthcare billing, insurance verification, or a related field required.
- Knowledge of medical billing, insurance claims processing, and financial assistance programs
- Experience in a customer service role, with the ability to handle high-volume patient interactions across multiple platforms.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and other healthcare laws and regulations
- Self-starter who takes initiative, is open minded and a team player
- Maintain a positive attitude with good energy
