Thermal Engineering Intern

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Thermal Engineering Intern to join the team!Â

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting Engineering staff including but not limited to support of staff, project engineers, project managers and managers. Activities could include data analysis, design, and the providing of technical support for ongoing operation and maintenance Citizens Thermal business. Candidates may have the opportunity to work with Thermal Engineering in direct support of Plant Maintenance, or Distribution groups for Steam and/or Chilled Water.Â

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures.
• Develops an understanding and complies with the Citizens Quality Program. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
• Shares information with others as requested. Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

• Active attendance at a college or university with emphasis in engineering, science, environmental studies, construction management, or related field.
• A current Grade Point Average of 2.75 or higher.
• Ability to work both remotely and in-person at Thermal plants and/or distribution work sites.
  
  

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

• Valid State of Indiana, Bureau of Motor Vehicles Operator's License.
• Experience preferred in use of Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively and successfully with project managers, staff engineers, and other team members.Â
• Ability to manage project aspects assigned technically and financially while handling multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.Â
• Completed at least Sophomore year level of studies.Â
