Citizens Electric Corporation is seeking a Transmission Planner to provide electrical engineering support for the planning and operation of our transmission system. This position plays a key role in ensuring system reliability, supporting long-range planning efforts, and maintaining compliance with MISO and NERC standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and analyze transmission system models using tools such as PSS®E
- Perform steady-state and dynamic system studies and recommend solutions to current and future system needs
- Support transmission planning criteria, facility ratings, and long-range engineering plans
- Prepare engineering analyses, project scopes, cost estimates, and technical reports
- Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, MISO, NERC, and other external stakeholders
- Support System Operations and assist with NERC compliance activities
- Participate in on-call rotation and outage response as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- PE license preferred
- 3 years of related experience preferred
- Experience with MISO or other RTOs and NERC standards strongly preferred
- Proficiency in power system modeling software and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with periodic fieldwork in high-voltage environments
- Occasional travel, overtime, and emergency response required
