JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE
The Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that our bank adheres to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. They are responsible for implementing and maintaining an effective compliance program to mitigate legal and regulatory risks. This role involves monitoring and assessing the bank's operations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as identifying and addressing any areas of non-compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position performs the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Manages the compliance program to ensure operations are being conducted in accordance with bank policy, procedure and compliance with and banking laws and regulations.

- Service Member Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
- SAFE Act
- Truth in Savings Act (Reg DD)
- Funds Availability (Reg CC)
- Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Reg E)
- Privacy Act (Reg P)
- UDAAP (Unfair Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices)
- E-Sign Act
- Recommends and assists in the development of procedures and controls which are indicated through normal reviews.
- Respond to inquiries and requests from regulatory agencies in a timely and professional manner. Assists external review firm during the conduct of their exam.
- Completes internal and compliance reviews within schedule.
- Ensures all significant internal control weaknesses related to consumer compliance regulations are identified, tracked and remediated in a timely manner.
- Ensures all regulatory compliance issues are identified and reported to management and the Board of Directors.
- Assists in achieving “satisfactory” ratings from auditors and regulators relative to the professional scope of the audit and/or compliance exam.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- This role supervises the CRA HMDA Compliance Specialist and the Lending Compliance Specialist staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school degree required, Bachelor's degree in Business Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years banking experience.
- Above average understanding and ability to respond to the application of internal reviews, standards, procedures and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of banking laws and regulations, including but not limited to BSA/AML, Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and others.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and assess their implications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate compliance requirements to diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to read, study and understand government regulations. Must be able to respond to common inquiries from regulatory agencies and outside consultants.
- Good understanding of human relations and the ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with coworkers.
- Good organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills.
