The CTE Advantage Math teacher will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality math instruction to students in grades 9-12, integrating mathematical concepts with technical disciplines. This individual will collaborate closely with educators to create a comprehensive curriculum that fosters both academic and technical skill development, preparing students for success in college and their future careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop a high school math curriculum that aligns with New York State standards.
- Deliver engaging math lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Work with other instructors to design interdisciplinary projects and assessments that promote real-world applications of math.
- Employ a range of instructional strategies and resources to support learners with varying abilities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to inform instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student enjoyment, engagement, and success.
- Cultivate effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues to support student learning and development.
- Contribute to weekly Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings, analyzing data to drive student achievement and outcomes.
- Participate in district-wide Math Professional Learning Community (PLC) to share best practices and innovate instruction.
Job Qualifications:
- Valid New York State teaching certification in Mathematics 7-12 (or willingness to obtain certification). Students with Disabilities 7-12 mathematics dual certification is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience teaching math at the secondary level, preferably with prior experience teaching regents-ending courses.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to effectively utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Experience with project-based learning and real-world applications of math.
- Familiarity with industry standards and certifications relevant to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies for diverse and inclusive classrooms.
- Capacity to create and adapt curriculum materials that align with New York State Math standards.
