Position Summary: 

The Manufacturing Technician I position is a hands-on position which will require the employee to run secondary operations, as well as to assist in the running of machinery, set-up and run production orders within the Extrusion Department. This manufacturing tech will specifically focus on Extrusion, and the ideal candidate will have some previous experience/exposure or have a passion for growing in this specialty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate workstations used in manufacturing processes, specifically focused around extrusion processes.
  • Promote a safe work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment following 5S standards.
  • Communicate and work together with fellow employees, promoting a positive work culture.
  • Be proficient in all aspects of equipment setup for all related secondary equipment - extruders primarily, and following priorities like mills, cut-to-length equipment, spoolers and post cure ovens.
  • Perform in-process visual inspections and various dimensional inspections using dies, gauges, dimensional inspection systems, verniers and micrometers.
  • Ability to use a scale, caliper, comparator and other measuring equipment accurately to ensure product meets specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain a high-quality standard and rate throughout all processes.
  • Understand and use work orders, blueprints, engineering specifications, SOPs and process documentation as required to perform setup of machinery and troubleshoot problems.
  • Maintain accurate written records following GDP and use the IQMS system as required for electronic documentation of work output.
  • Perform documented quality checks at regular required intervals and assist Quality Control with inspection duties with active participation and communication.
  • Reliable, consistent, and punctual attendance is essential and required for the position.
This is not a remote position. Must be able to commute daily without relocation.

Must Have:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Associates degree preferred or specific experience (2-4 years) in the medical device manufacturing industry.
  • Extrusion experience highly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience; preferably in roles of increasing responsibility.
  • Knowledge of Extrusion Process related to working in an organization that performed Extrusion processes. Direct Extrusion experience preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Knowledge of ISO and FDA requirements. 
  • LEAN manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Results oriented and ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong organizational skills, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to frequently handle various types of machine oils, lubricants, silicone and latex.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, walk steps between floors regularly, talk, and hear with prolonged periods sitting at table or standing at a workstation.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Ability to use a computer for simple data entry, tracking orders, track jobs, and for communication.

Pay range: $30.00 - $35.00 an hour. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
