Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer (Avionics/Aerospace)

Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Commercial Avionics product development team in Melbourne, FL. This role is specifically focused on the architecture, integration, and certification of aircraft communications, navigation, and surveillance systems.
You will work hands-on with platforms including the Boeing 787 and other commercial aircraft, driving requirements development, hazard analysis, and compliance testing for FAA-certified products. This is not a software coding role; it is a physical aircraft systems engineering position requiring deep knowledge of flight deck integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering activities for Navigation Systems (VOR/ILS/GPS) and Communication Systems (VHF/HF/SATCOM) from concept to certification.
- Develop and manage system requirements, architecture, and interface definitions in compliance with ARP-4754A.
- Support CISS (Common Integrated Surveillance System) integration and ACAS (Airborne Collision Avoidance System) development, including Transponder (Mode S/ADS-B) functionality.
- Coordinate with hardware and FPGA teams to ensure compliance with DO-254 (Design Assurance for Airborne Electronic Hardware).
- Oversee software compliance activities to DO-178C (Level A/B/C) and environmental qualification to DO-160.
- Conduct safety assessments (FHA, PSSA, SSA) and fault tree analysis for flight deck systems.
- Support Boeing 787 integration activities, including interface control documentation and data bus architecture (ARINC 664/429).
- Represent the engineering team during FAA conformity testing and certification audits.
Required Qualifications (Non-negotiable)
- Experience: 7 years of Avionics Systems Engineering experience, specifically on certified aircraft products.
- Certification Standards: Proven working knowledge of ARP-4754, DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160.
- Specific Systems: Direct engineering experience with CISS, ACAS, Transponders, Navigation Systems, and Communication Systems.
- Platform: Prior hands-on experience with Boeing 787 avionics or flight deck systems.
- Tools: Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama) and modeling tools.
- Documentation: Ability to author and trace certification artifacts (PSAC, SEP, HAD, CI-xxx).
