Cook Inlet Region, Inc is seeking a talented Human Resources Administrative Assistant to join our HR team. This position is based in Anchorage, AK.

General Function
In alignment with CIRI’s mission and values, the Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support to the Human Resources team to include data entry, file management, and HRIS and recruitment support as needed.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
- Enter data into the HRIS system (and payroll system as needed) to include employee information/changes, personnel file updates and data entry in coordination with HRIS implementations.
- Maintain personnel files in alignment with local, state, and federal laws and best practices; ensure records of terminated employees are handled in alignment with CIRI’s retention policies and procedures.
- Support the recruitment process by assisting with posting jobs, screening resumes, scheduling interviews and conducting phone screens.
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Track employee training requirements and ensure training is complete.
- Perform employee off-boarding functions.
- Effectively and actively communicate company policies and procedures.
- Respond to unemployment claims and employment verifications.
- Compile HR related metrics.
- Work effectively with all levels of employees in the company.
Stay apprised of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; communicate and implement best practices.- Perform other duties and special projects as appropriate and as assigned.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to look at situations analytically, make decisions, solve problems and exercise excellent judgment.
- Superior organizational, follow-up and detail-oriented skills.
- Knowledge of ANCSA corporations and the businesses and activities of CIRI, its subsidiaries and its non-profit agencies.
- High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.
Physical Abilities
- Sufficient fine motor skills for use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time
- Visual and communication abilities adequate to perform the essential functions of the job
- Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis
- Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion
- Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; some college strongly preferred
- Two years of administrative experience; Human Resources assistant experience preferred
- Experience in a for-profit organization preferred
- Experience with a company whose employees work throughout the U.S. preferred
- Ability to pass a background screening
