The Dari/Pashto Tutor will work at an assigned New Haven school to assist in providing essential services to refugee children, parents, and teachers determined by New Haven Department of Education K-12.Key Responsibilities:Support Students whose first language is not English in an academic setting: Involves attending a class, listening to the teacher, and then explaining the topic in the in the student’s fist language. May translate some materials or supporting the teacher in vetting/researching materials In the student’s first language.May be asked to help with homework, projects, and assignments. In some schools it may be necessary to make phone calls to the home of the students. Translate during meetings and conferences. Hours of operations:· Depends on the school hours but is normally during the school day. Usually, the tutor works 4 days in the school and 1 day in the office to complete admin work. Documentation and Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including health care records and other essential documents.Accurate case notes all case management services provided to clients.Assist with data entry and record-keeping tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the resettlement process. Resource Coordination:Team Collaboration:Work closely with case managers, social workers, and other team members to ensure a coordinated and client-centered approach.Participate in team meetings and provide valuable insights and updates on client progress.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.Compassion and a genuine desire to help vulnerable populations.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.Requirements:
