JOB TITLE: JUROR ASSISTANCE SUPPORT STAFF - BILINGUAL ENGLISH/SPANISH
BUDGET TITLE: STENOGRAPHER IV
UNION: TEAMSTERS LOCAL 700
GRADE: 11
SALARY: ENTRY RATE: $42,879 plus bilingual stipend
Job Summary and Duties: The Juror Assistance Support Staff is employed by the Office of the Chief Judge and reports to the Jury Administrator or his/her designee. The position requires a high degree of integrity and discretion, the interpersonal skills to interact cordially and professionally with court staff, jurors and potential jurors, and the public and the ability to contribute as a member of the Jury Administration team.
The duties and responsibilities of the Juror Assistance Support Staff include, but are not limited to:
- Answer telephone calls from potential jurors, providing polite and courteous customer support in English and Spanish, to identify juror hardships and inform them of the necessary steps to submit requests for hardships excusals or deferrals.
- Assist walk-in potential jurors, providing polite and courteous customer support in English and Spanish to identify juror hardships and inform them of the necessary steps to submit requests for hardships excusals or deferrals.
- Prepare petit and grand jury summonses for delivery to the post office.
- Enter return mail into the jury computer system and file the envelopes according to the record retention policy.
- Read, code, and enter faxed or mailed juror documentation into the jury computer system.
- Perform such other duties as are directed by the Jury Administrator or designee

- Ability to sit at a desk and communicate via telephone for extended periods of time
- Ability to move around the jury room, courthouse, and elsewhere as required
- Ability to intermittently twist to reach equipment and supplies
- Ability to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation
- Strength to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to use a telephone and computer
