The mission of Manufacturing Engineering is to establish manufacturing control through process development, creation of standard work, and cross functional collaboration to guarantee process safety and quality while supporting improved delivery through efficiency.

STAFF MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Position Summary

The Staff Manufacturing Engineer will support the business in areas of new product development; process improvement; daily product support; manage key programs; technical authority in metal processes; analyze and interpret technical data (engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, etc.) and create shop routings, operations sheets, tools, and other necessary processes and equipment to produce a high-quality product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define, maintain, and control manufacturing engineering standards, process controls, and technical documentation, including PFMEA activities, ERP process routers, and other manufacturing support data
  • Evaluate, develop, and optimize complex manufacturing processes involving product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, equipment layout, and manufacturability to improve efficiency, quality, and operational performance
  • Lead troubleshooting, RCCM investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing activities such as Kaizen and SMED events, to resolve complex engineering and production challenges
  • Serve as the primary technical lead and “go-to” specialist for manufacturing engineering projects, providing technical guidance to project teams, mentoring junior engineers and employees, and supporting cross-functional collaboration across the organization and global operations
  • Support the evaluation, procurement, installation, and startup of capital equipment and emerging technologies, while partnering with suppliers and vendors to ensure equipment, materials, and components meet technical and quality requirements
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support for production planning, repair activities, and customer technical inquiries through effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Maintain technical expertise through professional development, industry networking, benchmarking, and participation in organizational initiatives such as the CIRCOR Operating System (COS)
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, military and contractual requirements, government clearance obligations, and other assigned responsibilities while supporting business objectives and operational excellence
  • All other duties as assigned

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Results oriented, with sound judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and strategic skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-function team, perform in an ambiguous environment, and mentor
  • Extensive machining background in the production of close tolerance highly precision products involving various types of metal allows
  • CAD/CAM experience with exposure in working with NX, Solid Works or Master Cam preferred
  • Strong metal processing background, i.e., Heat Treating, Surface Finishing, Forging, Casting, etc.
  • Strong Project Management Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project, Solidworks, CATIA and other applicable tools
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention; displays willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions includes appropriate people in decision-making process
  • Passion for data, analysis, trends, reporting and technology
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, to write clearly and informatively routine reports, correspondence, and designs workflows and procedures
  • Presents numerical data effectively
  • Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) from an accredited university
  • At least 8 years of relevant Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred in a high precision manufacturing environment with high mix/low volume product rates
