Circle Program is seeking a cabin counselor for our 2027 summer camp season. Circle Program is a NH based non-profit that has provided new opportunities to socially and financially disadvantaged girls age 9 – 18 for over 33 years. We do this by offering girls and teens a unique combination of residential summer camp, programming throughout the school year, and 1:1 or small group mentoring, all 100% tuition free. At Circle, we strive to equip our girls and teens with the tools they need to become confidently engaged in their community and living to their full potential.

Circle Program serves girls and teens who may have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). Through trainings and certifications provided during staff orientation, summer staff are expected to creating a safe, empowering, and inclusive space where campers can build trust, confidence, and positive connections.

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience or interest in working with children at camp or in related fields.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be able to pass State and Government Background checks.
  • Highschool diploma or GED required, college experience or degree preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Experience in activities such as hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, low ropes course, art, nature and STEM.
  • Experience spending extended periods of time in the wilderness/in a rural setting.
  • Valid Lifeguard certification including CPR / AED training and First aid certification through reputable company preferred and comes with additional compensation.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete 2 weeks of paid staff orientation.
  • Complete 3 camp sessions.

- Session 1: Teens age 12 – 14

- Session 2: Girls age 9 – 11

- Session 3: Girls age 9 - 11

IF LIFEGUARD CERTIFIED:

  • Complete specific waterfront staff training during orientation.
  • Report to waterfront daily waterfront director.
  • Active lifeguard duty daily, responsible for observing and protecting campers in and around waterfronts.
  • Live in a cabin with 6–8 campers and a co-counselor for the duration of each camp session.
  • Be a safe, caring adult for your cabin group—helping campers get ready in the morning and at night, guiding them through personal challenges, and supporting them through conflict.
  • Lead by example by setting clear structure, rules, and expectations for your cabin.
  • Coordinate and carry out cabin activities that build trust, teamwork, and fun.
  • Use kind, respectful, and inclusive language at all times.
  • Help maintain a camp culture that is safe, drug-free, and unplugged.
  • Facilitate transitions between activities and mealtimes as directed by the Lead Counselor.
  • Oversee and interact with your table group, lead songs, and help serve food at meal times.
  • Develop and lead activity curriculum that promotes personal growth, creativity, and life skills.
  • Participate in evening programs and other camp-wide events, offering support and enthusiasm.
  • Interact with campers with an abuse prevention mindset.
  • Implement strategies learned in staff orientation such as de-escalation/self-regulation techniques and setting boundaries.
