THE ROLE
As Director Finance North America Commercial, you will lead the financial management and strategic support for North America Commercial operations. This role is designed for a finance leader with strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to partner closely with sales and commercial teams to drive profitable growth and operational efficiency. You will provide critical financial insights and decision support that enable the commercial organization to achieve its revenue, margin, and cost objectives.
Reporting to the Head of Finance North America, you will oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for commercial activities across North America. You will be responsible for delivering actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and ensure alignment with corporate financial goals and operational realities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead Comprehensive FP&A for North America Commercial: Own and drive all financial planning and analysis activities for North America Commercial operations, focusing on sales performance, margin optimization, cost control, and investment prioritization. Provide financial leadership that supports both short-term operational needs and long-term strategic growth.
- Strategic Partnership with Commercial Leadership: Collaborate closely with commercial leaders to develop and execute financial strategies that support revenue growth, profitability targets, and operational efficiency. Act as a trusted advisor, translating financial data into clear, actionable insights that influence business decisions.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Long-Range Planning: Lead the end-to-end budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for commercial teams. Ensure financial plans are realistic, aligned with enterprise goals, and responsive to market dynamics and operational challenges.
- Decision Support & Financial Modeling: Deliver robust decision support through scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and advanced financial modeling. Evaluate commercial initiatives, pricing strategies, promotional activities, and investment opportunities to optimize financial outcomes.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor and report on commercial financial performance, highlighting key variances, emerging trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide timely and insightful financial narratives to senior leadership that enable proactive management and course correction.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and other functions to ensure integrated financial planning and execution. Facilitate alignment on assumptions, drivers, and performance metrics to support cohesive commercial strategies.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team. Foster a culture of accountability, curiosity, continuous learning, and proactive problem-solving. Build team capabilities to meet evolving business needs and growth ambitions.
- Investment & business case advisory: Build and review business cases for strategic initiatives and projects act as an advisor/challenger to improve decision quality. Standardize methodologies, validate assumptions, and define measurable success metrics.
- Financial Governance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and governance standards. Promote best practices in financial management and reporting within the commercial finance function.
- Representation & Influence: Represent Finance in commercial business reviews, strategic planning sessions, and cross-functional leadership forums. Influence senior stakeholders through data-driven insights and collaborative engagement.
- Process Improvement & Innovation: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of commercial financial planning and analysis processes. Champion automation, data integration, and analytics to increase value delivery.
- Strategic Alignment: Contribute to the broader North America finance and commercial strategy by providing insights that align operational plans with long-term business objectives and financial targets. Drive initiatives that enhance commercial financial performance and operational efficiency.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We want you to join our team! Here’s what we’re looking for:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation is strongly preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in commercial finance or related roles. Experience in multi-unit or multi-market environments is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep commercial finance expertise, including sales forecasting, margin analysis, pricing, and promotional finance.
- Advanced financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis capabilities.
- Strong understanding of operational drivers impacting commercial performance.
- Proficiency with financial systems, ERP, and planning tools.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders.
- Strong business partnering skills, able to influence and collaborate across functions.
