YES Mentor

Job Summary

YES Mentor/Job developer’s primary duty is to work with a caseload of 29 students, assisting

them in obtaining and maintaining employment while maintaining good academic standing.

Reporting Relationships

YES Mentors report directly to the H.R./Program Manager. There are no positions that report

to YES Mentors.

Duties & Essential Job Functions

 Recruit, retain and monitor 28 students who have met the eligibility criteria for

YES/WIA (Youth Experiencing Success/Workforce Investment Act) program.

 Maintain detailed records for the 28 students’ participation and progress.

 Advocate for and mentor YES students.

 Ensure that the students are receiving alternative academic studies in the appropriate

subject areas.

 Ensure that the students are receiving career education with an emphasis on job skills

enhancement and resume development.

 Help place the students in places of employment.

 Visit students at their respective work sites to ensure progress.

 Build and maintain positive relationships with corporations and employment agencies

to ensure continuity and future job placements.

 Participate in weekly academy meeting to identify students who require outreach

and/or support.

 Conduct daily outreach (by phone call, email, text, or best method of contact for each

student or parent).

 Participate in assigned advisory class each day.

 Link students with tutors as needed.

 Find additional resources for social-emotional support.

 Attend monthly meetings with ASN.

 Attend bi-monthly staff meetings at IHS and/or Benton.

Other Functions and Responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree.

 Ability to direct, motivate and mentor adolescents in a positive and productive manner.

 Computer literate, particularly with respect to the internet and Google Drive.

 At least two years’ experience working with off-track high school students.

 Excellent organization and project management skills.

 Ability to display discretion in all confidential matters.

 Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communications skills (both

written and oral) with attention to detail.

Other

 Must have a cell phone to receive calls from students/ASN staff.

 Valid driver license required.

 Possession of a personal vehicle or regular access to a vehicle is preferred.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Work is primarily sedentary in nature, no special demands are required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
