Founded in 2011, Circle Care Center (CCC) is Connecticut’s largest independent provider of stigma-free sexual health and affirming medical services. CCC serves more than 3,000 patients annually across two clinical locations in Norwalk and Glastonbury, and operates an in-house pharmacy at its Norwalk location.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality, patient-centered medical care in Connecticut, with specialized expertise in primary care for people living with HIV; HIV prevention (PrEP and PEP); STI testing and treatment; Hepatitis C care; gender-affirming care; and behavioral health services.
POSITION SUMMARY
Circle Care Center is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist (MD or DO) to join our Behavioral Health team at our Norwalk, CT location. This role provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients within an integrated community-based healthcare model.
The Psychiatric Provider works under the clinical supervision and guidance of the Senior Medical Director, who serves as the onsite Medical Director, and collaborates closely with primary care, behavioral health, nursing, and pharmacy teams.
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience working with LGBTQ individuals and providing culturally responsive, gender-affirming psychiatric care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Psychiatric Assessment and Diagnosis
- Obtain and document comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health histories
- Perform diagnostic psychiatric evaluations and mental health screenings
- Assess the effects of medical conditions, life transitions, trauma, and social determinants of health
- Develop differential diagnoses, recognizing typical and atypical symptom presentation
- Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic psychiatric conditions
Treatment Planning and Medication Management
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, including controlled substances
- Evaluate patient response to treatment and adjust care plans accordingly
- Collaborate with pharmacy staff to assess drug interactions, adherence, and adverse effects
- Provide long-term management of chronic psychiatric conditions
Care Coordination and Health Promotion
- Promote recovery-oriented, patient-centered care and shared decision-making
- Engage family members or support systems when clinically appropriate
- Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams and community services
- Support continuity of care across healthcare settings
- Advocate for patient rights and informed decision-making
Teaching, Communication, and Professional Practice
- Communicate effectively about sensitive topics, including sexuality, gender identity, substance use, and trauma
- Provide psychoeducation and counseling to support behavior change
- Deliver culturally responsive, gender-affirming, and neurodiversity-affirming care
- Maintain professional relationships and participate in quality improvement initiatives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Board Certified in Psychiatry
- Active, unrestricted license to practice in the State of Connecticut
- Valid DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/AED) certification
- Minimum three to five years of full-time experience as a practicing psychiatrist
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in community-based, outpatient, or integrated care settings
- Demonstrated experience providing care to LGBTQ populations
- Training in trauma-informed or collaborative care models
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Clinical setting requiring frequent standing and walking
- Manual dexterity required for sustained periods
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Circle Care Center offers competitive, fair-market compensation based on credentials and experience.
Salary Range: $225,000 – $265,000 annually
