Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state curriculum standards for social studies.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and student abilities.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and assessments, providing timely feedback.
- Create a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education and social studies pedagogy.
- Maintain classroom management and uphold school policies to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the school administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Education, Social Studies, or a related field
- Valid NJ teaching certification in Social Studies or Elementary Education (K-6)
- Previous teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of social studies content, including history, geography, and civics.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with students and parents effectively.
- Proficient in using technology and digital resources to enhance instruction.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment.
- Availability for the entire duration of the leave replacement assignment.
