Dermatology Medical Assistant, Job Opening (Kenwood) (Cincinnati)

Position available: May/June 2026

Job Summary:

We are looking to add a detailed-oriented, personable, and professional medical assistant to our team devoted to providing quality and compassionate patient care. The medical assistant will support our dermatologist and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management including detailed documentation and assisting with medical procedures, organization, skincare sales, scheduling, education, and communication. The ideal candidate must have very strong customer service skills, love working with people, and the ability to multitask in a team oriented environment.

Ideal opportunity for candidates aspiring to become physicians or physician assistants (pre-med, pre-pa, gap year). This position offers a wide range of valuable hands-on experience in a clinical setting.

Job Type:

  • Part-time (25.5-29.5 hours/week)

Duties to Include (but not limited to):

  • Welcome patients to the office with a friendly and upbeat attitude
  • Communicate effectively with patients via phone, email, and texting platforms regarding scheduling and other office and medical topics
  • Answer and triage patient inquiries and questions
  • Schedule patient appointments and procedures, and maintain records and accounts
  • Obtain and explain office consents and upload documents into patient charts
  • Collect payments/copayments, deductibles, coinsurances, and outstanding balances
  • Administrative duties for health insurance verification, prior authorizations and help patients obtain their prescriptions
  • Prepare charts, etc. for the next day appointments
  • Perform check-in and check-out duties for patients
  • Educate and recommend skincare products based on the dermatologist’s consult notes and patient needs
  • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of all patient information
  • Collect pertinent information such as a chief complaint, reviewing medical history, obtaining vital signs
  • Assist the dermatologist with exams and procedures (Must be able to tolerate the sight of blood and willing to use needles and syringes in patient care tasks)
  • Collect, document, and update patient information into electronic health record
  • Communicate with patients regarding the dermatologist’s plan, test results, and procedure education
  • Communicate effectively with the entire medical team by documenting patient interactions and messages within the patient chart
  • Manage laboratory tasks
  • Manage inventory for the office including, but not limited to, general office, skincare, medical, and surgical supplies
  • Maintain skincare products displays
  • Package and prepare skincare products for shipping
  • Sanitize and clean the office daily
  • Maintain office cleanliness and organization by performing daily opening and closing tasks
  • Communicate with outside vendors
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Education:

  • Ideal opportunity for candidates aspiring to become physicians or physician assistants (pre-med, pre-pa, gap year)
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizing and planning skills
  • Desire to help others and make a positive impact on people’s lives through dermatology care
  • Ability to learn and understand medical terminology and vital signs
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with patients of all education levels.
  • Ability to take initiative with tasks and sets own priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines
  • Ability to utilize electronic health record software and data entry (typing) into a computer or tablet
  • Must work carefully, thoughtfully, efficiently and with attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively and interact well as a team and with others in person and by phone.

License/Certification:

  • CPR certification (Preferred but not required)

Experience:

  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred not required)
