Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our amazing dental team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced chairside procedures, assisting with complex dental treatments, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Perform chairside assisting duties such as taking vital signs, medical imaging (X-ray and 3D scanner), and applying aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
- Manage electronic health records using Dentrix, to ensure accurate medical documentation and coding.
- Prepare treatment areas and sterilize instruments following strict infection control protocols aligned with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote patient understanding and compliance.
- Support administrative tasks including dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, and managing medical records with attention to detail.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to facilitate effective communication within the team and with patients.
Requirements
- Valid Expanded Functions Dental Assistant certification or license as required by state law.
- Proven experience in general dentistry settings with proficiency in dental assisting procedures including X-ray, vital signs measurement, and medical imaging.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient records efficiently.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization processes.
- Ability to perform advanced chairside assisting tasks including prosthodontics and endodontics procedures confidently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain treatments clearly to patients of all ages.
