Responsibilities

The Division of Neurology seeks an Assistant Professor with a strong background in epilepsy treatment with training or a desire to be trained in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM). In this role, you will have the chance to collaborate with world-renowned experts, conduct groundbreaking research, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our young patients. This means treating their seizures, minimizing medication side effects, addressing emotional and developmental concerns, and helping families better understand their child’s condition. Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in the field of neurology, with a focus on epilepsy or intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM)
  • Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in the field of epilepsy/IONM
  • Collaborate with other researchers and experts in the field to advance knowledge and understanding of epilepsy/IONM
  • Develop and implement innovative techniques and technologies for epilepsy/IONM
  • Participate in clinical trials and studies related to epilepsy/IONM
  • Provide expert consultation to healthcare teams on epilepsy/IONM cases
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and discoveries in epilepsy/IONM and incorporate them into practice
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and resources related to epilepsy/IONM for medical professionals and patients
  • Participate in departmental and institutional committees and initiatives related to IONM and neurology
  • Represent the institution and department at national and international conferences and events related to IONM and neurology
  • Overseeing educational/training programs and ensuring effective mentorship and guidance of trainees

Qualifications And Experience

  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD, with board certification in Neurology with special competence in Child Neurology.
  • Rank of Assistant Professor
  • Participate in an active research program relevant to neurology
  • Strong reputation in the field of neurology
  • Strong background in epilepsy and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM)
  • Experience in a complex, integrated academic medical setting
  • Commitment to alignment with Cincinnati Children’s culture and beliefs
  • Ability to develop a vision, with a track record for successfully implementing new Epilepsy/IONM initiatives that advance the field of neurology
