What are the responsibilities and job description for the (Seasonal) Weekend Chaperone position at Cincinnati Ballet?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Each summer, Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy hosts students from across the country at our six-week Summer and Collegiate Intensive training programs. Housing opportunities for students traveling to the area are provided at a local university. The Otto M. Budig Academy is in search of Weekend Chaperones for off-campus activities throughout the summer of 2026 (June 17, 2026 – July 19, 2026). Within this role, chaperones are responsible for the safety, care, and well-being of students attending off-campus events and activities. Weekend Chaperones supervise resident students participating in activities at major amusement and community venues in the greater Cincinnati area.
COMPENSATION
- Rate: $16 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Chaperone students on weekend and evening outings and ensure their safety and well-being from pick-up through drop-off at the residence hall.
- Establish ground rules for weekend trips and designate group sizes and expectations.
- Account for and distribute event tickets to students.
- Account for and distribute monetary vouchers for student meals (if outings occur during meal times).
- Coordinate with bus drivers in determining drop-off and pick-up locations and procedures.
- Act as first responder for all student emergencies and get in touch with student emergency contacts and the Student Services Manager in the event of an incident.
KEY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in customer care and the supervision of minors. Experience with student housing programs strongly preferred.
- Exceptional moral character and an ability to lead by example.
- Proven leadership, mentorship, customer service, and listening skills.
- Experience with pre-professional ballet training and summer intensive programs.
- Highly responsible and flexible individual with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Commitment to the values and culture of Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy.
- Passion for student service.
- Strong commitment to ensuring the protection and safety of minors.
- Nurturing demeanor with the ability to enforce disciplinary action when necessary.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and attitudes, and an ability to communicate with a wide spectrum of individuals.
- Self-motivated, independent worker with strong organizational and time management skills.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Candidate will be subject to a criminal background, motor vehicle, and credit check.
- Potential activity dates include June 17, 20, 21, 27, 28, and July 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 18, and 19.
- Candidate need not be available for all chaperone dates. Please indicate dates of availability in your application and cover letter.
EXPECTED WORK HOURS AND TRAVEL:
- Hours vary by scheduled activity.
- Required work hours include a one-hour training session (date and time TBD).
- Chaperones are to meet at the Residence Hall and travel with residents by bus.
