QUALITY CONTROL CERTIFIED WELDING INSPECTOR
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our Quality team. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of steel fabrication on bridge and commercial steel fabrication projects. If you have a strong background in welding inspection, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment this career may be for you!
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- A current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS)
- Proficient in interpreting shop drawings
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a steel fabrication environment
- Experience with inspection software and digital reporting tools
- Ability to ensure fabricated product meets customer specifications
- Effective communication skills for coordination with team members and supervisors
- High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong background and knowledge in AWS D1.1 and D1.5
- Experience in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, including UT, radiographic film interpretation, MT, and PT
- AMPP coatings inspector certification a plus
- Degree or technical training in welding technology, materials science, or a related field
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills
EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be reliable, conscientious and interact professionally with internal and external customers
- Be open to learning and adapting to new tools, software, and methodologies to stay current and continue delivering high-quality results
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvement that can enhance efficiency, productivity, or safety
- Strong understanding of welding processes, techniques, and materials used in structural steel fabrication
- Ability to work in various environments, including heights and confined spaces, and to perform physical tasks such as lifting and climbing
- Familiarity with inspection tools and equipment, such as weld gauges, calipers, and NDT instruments
- Perform and accurately document inspections of welds, materials, dimensions and other properties to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications, recommending corrective actions as needed
- Ensure that all stages of fabrication meet the required quality standards and specifications
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, including daily reports, non-conformance reports, and welding logs
- Ensure all welding procedures and practices adhere to applicable codes and standards
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide updates on inspection results and any quality concerns
- Provide guidance and training to welding personnel on best practices and quality standards
- Promote and adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment
