Duties
- Perform installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and ammonia refrigeration units.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) diagrams to accurately diagnose issues.
- Conduct routine inspections of HVAC systems, plumbing connections, air conditioning units, boilers, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize tools such as ohmmeters and welding equipment to diagnose electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs or modifications.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete work orders promptly, and document all repairs for compliance and quality assurance.
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to refrigeration and HVAC systems to uphold safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Drive company vehicles safely while transporting tools or equipment to various job sites; ensure compliance with all transportation safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician specializing in refrigeration systems; construction or property maintenance background is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in appliance repair, HVAC design, plumbing, welding, and equipment repair.
- Familiarity with schematics and technical diagrams related to HVAC/R systems; ability to interpret complex technical documentation.
- Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly desirable; knowledge of HVAC/R codes and safety protocols is essential.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively; comfortable working with electrical components.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with field service experience in commercial settings; experience with boiler operation or mechanic roles is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license (including
driver if applicable) with a clean driving record; willingness to travel between multiple job sites as needed. - Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
