What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Engineer position at Cimarron Software?
Cimarron is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base in the Colorado Springs, CO area.
Key Duties:
- Develop, manage, and maintain project requirements, ensuring traceability from stakeholder needs through design, implementation, and operations.
- Participate in and facilitate design reviews, ensuring compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
- Support project closeout activities, including verification and validation, final documentation, as-built records, and lessons learned.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, CM analysts, and stakeholders to ensure systems integration.
- Contribute to the creation, revision, and maintenance of SE governance documents, including the SEMP, SEP, and SE Handbook.
- Standardize processes for requirements management, design review, risk management, and V&V across the enterprise.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure governance aligns with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Support training and rollout of SE processes to other engineers and project teams.
- Work cross-functionally with project managers, engineering disciplines, operations, and executive leadership.
- Participate in enterprise SE working groups and process improvement initiatives.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at the time.

- Active Secret Clearance.
- 3 or more years of experience in systems engineering or a closely related engineering role.
- Demonstrated experience with SE lifecycle processes, including requirements development, design reviews, verification & validation, and project closeouts.
- Strong understanding of SE standards such as INCOSE SE Handbook or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Experience supporting facilities or infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architecture Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience developing or maintaining governance documents such as SEMP, SEP, or an SE Handbook.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and practices.
- Experience coordinating with diverse technical and operational stakeholders.
- Experience with metrics-driven process improvement.
