Cimarron is seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base in the Colorado Springs, CO area.
Key Duties
- Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems.
- Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices.
- Install, configure, and manage RHEL and other Linux-based systems.
- Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions.
- Advise leadership and make appropriate technical recommendations regarding system operation issues and improvements, optimization tools and methods, and process development.
- Assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis as needed.
- Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts.
- Make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work actions that achieve critical-path requirements.
- Identify documentation errors and provide recommendations to appropriate personnel for correction.
- Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problem and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems.
- Perform evening shift work and weekend duty as needed to meet off-hour mission activities.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.
- This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. - Active Secret Clearance.
- 8 or more years of years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual machines, and troubleshooting.
- 1 or more years of working in a management or leadership role.
- Must have experience with Multi-Factor Authentication methodology.
- Experience building, configuring, and deploying servers/systems in a virtualized environment.
- Administration experience on RHEL 8/9 using the Command Line Interface.
- Ability to interface with software engineers, system engineers, and subject matter experts to solve complex integration and technical problems.
- Current DoD-approved 8570 Level II certification (ex., Security CE).
- Experience working with Ansible automation.
- Experience in configuring and managing NetApp storage devices.
- Experience with security patching and software management using RHEL Satellite.
- Network troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT or engineering-related discipline.
