Cimarron is seeking a Database Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.
Key Duties
- Install, configure, operate, and maintain database systems across the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) enterprise network.
- Research and apply best practices for database design and administration.
- Create and maintain standard database policies, operating procedures, and documentation.
- Monitor database performance, perform fine-tuning, and optimize database systems.
- Develop and implement database backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Conduct audits to assess database capacity and availability.
- Define database system requirements and recommend technology solutions as part of IT and business projects.
- Research, document, and introduce new database technologies and features into the application life cycle.
- Collaborate with application developers, business owners, and architects on design and implementation efforts.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education :
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. - Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.
- Active Secret Clearance
- 6 or more years of experience with database architecture, DBA task automation, and/or data modeling/schema design.
- Ability to obtain an appropriate computing environment certification (e.g., Microsoft Windows Server 2016, Microsoft Azure) within 6 months of start date.
- Current DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security CE or higher), or ability to obtain within 3 months of start date.
- Experience with MS SQL Server 2019 or higher.
- Experience with MS SQL Server clustering, performance tuning, and database monitoring.
- Experience with MS SQL Server database backup and recovery.
- Knowledge and experience with relational DBMS concepts, design, architecture, and operations.
- Experience working with databases in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
