Scope and Role at CIG

The department creates pathways for intercultural dialogue and equitable participation by

providing culturally responsive communications, engagement support and strategic guidance. Our work ensures diverse populations have the access and tools needed to engage in our clients’ communication efforts.


Position Overview

The Multicultural Outreach Coordinator (MOC) supports the mission and vision of CIG’s Multicultural Outreach Department (MOD) by managing daily logistics, tracking metrics and providing both events and public engagement assistance. This early-career role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic communications, public involvement, multicultural engagement and demographic research.


Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communications & Translation: Support the Multicultural Outreach Manager (MOM) by providing high-quality translations, live interpretation assistance, and managing project-specific glossaries.
  • Content Creation: Directly participate in developing culturally resonant, public-facing and multilingual digital and print media (social media and web content, flyers and infographics).
  • Strategic Support: Contribute to internal strategic initiatives, including the development of Public Involvement and other communications plans.
  • Logistics & Event Support: Drive the planning and execution of events by assisting with detail coordination, event setup, on-site logistics and staffing.
  • Data & Research: Research local demographics to help communication efforts reach underserved populations. Propose grassroots and organizational project partners.
  • Intern Supervision: Provide guidance, task delegation and oversight to MOD interns.


Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Spanish Language or another, closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and professional community engagement experience.
  • Language: Professional-level fluency (written and verbal) in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Software & Digital Literacy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel for data and engagement tracking) and Google Workplace is preferred. Comfort utilizing digital collaboration tools (e.g., virtual meetings, project management software such as Trello and marketing automation software such as Constant Contact and Mailchimp) is a distinct advantage.
  • Interpersonal & Conflict Resolution: Active listening skills. Maintains calm and professional manner while participating in public interactions.
  • Prioritization & Time Management: Strong organizational skills with ability to independently and simultaneously manage small-scale tasks for multiple clients. Adapts well to evolving work environments (e.g., shifting deadlines and workload).
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours to align with community events.
  • Mobility: Ability to reliably travel to various off-site community events and meetings. (Valid driver's license required; authorized business travel is eligible for standard IRS mileage reimbursement).

Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 DOE
