The Treasury Management leadership role combines strategic oversight and client fulfillment to ensure the successful delivery of treasury products and services to commercial clients. This position drives fee income growth by leading sales efforts, implementing treasury solutions, and partnering closely with commercial banking teams to deepen client relationships. It assists with support for onboarding and delivering exceptional client experience while also serving as a trusted advisor to clients on cash management, payments, and fraud mitigation. The role also ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, operational accuracy, effective risk management, and strong internal controls.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Of Director of Treasury Management)

LEADERSHIP & STRATEGY

·         Develop and execute the bank’s treasury management strategy aligned with corporate goals.

·         Lead and mentor the treasury management team, ensuring sales effectiveness, product expertise, and operational excellence.

·         Partner with commercial bankers, branch leadership, and operations to identify cross-selling opportunities.

SALES, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

·         Establish annual treasury sales goals and performance metrics, monitor progress and coach team members.

·         Participate in commercial client meetings to assess needs and recommend appropriate treasury solutions.

·         Maintain deep knowledge of competitive products, market trends, and emerging technologies.

·         Identify treasury opportunities within new and existing commercial relationships and support commercial lenders in proposal development.

·         Conduct client discovery meetings to assess cash-flow cycles, payment needs, and fraud-prevention risks.

·         Manage a portfolio of treasury clients, ensuring retention, cross-sell growth, and high client satisfaction.

·         Deliver product demonstrations and consultative recommendations.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT & INNOVATION

·         Oversee the full lifecycle of treasury products including ACH, wire, RDC, merchant services, and fraud tools.

·         Oversee the process of consumer online banking and debit card services.

·         Identify product enhancements and new offerings to support client needs and profitability.

·         Collaborate with technology, operations, and vendors on product implementation.

·         Serve as subject-matter expert for ACH, wires, remote deposit capture (RDC), online banking, merchant services, positive pay, lockbox, sweep accounts, fraud tools, and all treasury-related products.

·         Coordinate product onboarding, ensuring accurate setup, documentation completion, and client training.

RISK MANAGEMENT & COMPLIANCE

·         Ensure products and processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies including UCC, NACHA, Reg E, and BSA/AML.

·         Maintain strong internal controls and oversee audits, risk assessments, and third-party oversight.

·         Support risk reviews of treasury clients, including ACH exposure limits, user entitlements, security controls, and BSA/AML considerations.

·         Promote client education on fraud prevention and digital-banking security.

OPERATIONS, CLIENT EXPERIENCE & SUPPORT MANAGEMENT

·         Partner with operations and lending teams to ensure accurate and timely implementation of treasury services and client support across the treasury lifecycle.

·         Resolve escalated client issues promptly.

·         Monitor service levels and ensure a strong client experience.

·         Provide training to internal teams on treasury products and sales strategies.

·         Participate in product enhancement initiatives and system upgrades.

·         Act as escalation point for complex treasury service issues.

·         Maintain a proactive communication strategy to ensure timely service.

·         Capture client feedback to support continuous improvement.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

·         Manage the treasury management budget, revenue targets, and expense controls.

·         Analyze account analysis statements, pricing models, and fee structures.

·         Track product profitability and contribution to bank goals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: (Of  Director of Treasury Management)

·         Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.

·         Professional certification (CTP, AAP, or related credential) is a plus but not required.

·         3–7 years of treasury management, commercial banking, or cash-management sales experience.

·         Strong understanding of payments, digital banking, and commercial deposit products.

·         Prior experience with treasury operations or implementations preferred

·         Proven ability to build relationships with mid-market and business-banking clients

·         Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

·         Ability to analyze financial statements, pricing models, and operational risks.

·         Strong problem-solving skills.

·         High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex projects.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Of Director of Treasury Management)

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds such as files, documents, and computer printouts. Deadlines, disgruntled customers, workloads during peak periods and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at an advanced skill level.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS (Of Director of Treasury Management)

Internal – Works closely with commercial lenders, branch and retail teams, and internal operations staff to support client needs and implement treasury services.  The role also partners with compliance, risk, information security and finance teams to ensure products are delivered accurately, securely, and in alignment with regulatory and pricing requirements.

External – Maintains regular communication with business clients and prospects to understand cash-flow needs, deliver tailored treasury solutions, and support ongoing relationship development.  This role also interacts with third-party vendors and external professional partners to facilitate product implementations, resolve service issues, and strengthen referral networks.

Supervision of Others –This position may supervise assigned treasury support staff, including oversight of workload, performance, and adherence to established procedure.

ACCOUNTABILITY (Of Director of Treasury Management)

This position is accountable for identifying and developing treasury opportunities within assigned portfolios, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of treasury products and maintaining strong client satisfaction.  This role is responsible for achieving individual sales goals, supporting portfolio growth, and ensuring compliance with all bank policies, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements. The TMO is also accountable for resolving client issues promptly, maintaining high data integrity in onboarding systems, and collaborating effectively with internal partners to support overall relationship profitability.
