Responsibilities:
Workers’ Compensation Management:
- Administer the workers’ compensation program, including claims intake, investigation, reporting, and follow-up.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, claims adjusters, and legal counsel to manage claims efficiently and control costs.
- Monitor claims trends and implement strategies to reduce workplace injuries and claims frequency.
Safety Program Development & Oversight:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, state regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all facilities.
- Lead safety committees and collaborate with department leaders to reinforce a culture of safety.
Training & Education:
- Develop and deliver employee safety training, including infection control, lifting techniques, emergency preparedness, and equipment safety.
- Ensure staff are aware of safety policies and workers’ compensation procedures.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local workplace safety and workers’ compensation regulations.
- Prepare and submit required reports, such as OSHA logs and state workers’ compensation filings.
Return-to-Work Programs:
- Develop and manage return-to-work programs for injured employees to facilitate safe, timely reintegration.
Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze incident and claims data to identify trends, high-risk areas, and opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance safety and reduce claims.
Collaboration:
- Partner with HR, operations, and nursing leadership to ensure alignment of safety and workers’ compensation programs with organizational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in workers’ compensation administration and/or occupational safety, preferably in healthcare, long-term care, or nursing home settings.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation laws, and best practices in workplace safety.
- Experience managing claims, safety programs, and return-to-work initiatives.
- Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or OSHA Training credentials is a plus.
