Duties

• Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, including scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts.
• Handle cash drawer management with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing at the end of each shift.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product demos when needed.
• Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and ensure the sales floor is tidy and well-merchandised to optimize shopping experience.
• Maintain phone etiquette when assisting customers via phone inquiries or scheduling product demos.
• Support inventory management through stocking, merchandising, and participating in periodic stock counts.
• Demonstrate product knowledge of store items, including grocery or retail products, to assist customers effectively.
• Supervise or assist new team members in cashiering duties as needed, fostering teamwork and ensuring smooth store operations.

Experience

• Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations.
• Experience supervising or mentoring team members is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers confidently in bilingual settings if applicable.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately and managing cash drawers efficiently.
• Knowledge of retail math principles for balancing registers and reconciling sales at shift end.
• Familiarity with merchandising standards and stock replenishment procedures.
• Excellent phone etiquette skills for professional customer interactions over the phone.
