Job Description
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Immunology and Cryology Lab Supervisor who leads from the front. In this role, you'll guide a team of approximately 20 laboratory professionals, oversee quality across the analytical and post-analytical phases of testing, and serve as a trusted resource for physicians and clients. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll be in the arena with your team every day, bringing deep technical knowledge to coaching, problem-solving, and quality oversight rather than working the bench yourself.
What You'll Do
Team Leadership
- Directly supervise approximately 20 staff, including scheduling, daily huddles, and ongoing staff development
- Coach, mentor, and grow your team, building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Stay visible and engaged on the floor, supporting staff through day-to-day operations
Quality & Operations
- Serve as the first line of quality assurance oversight for the department
- Oversee quality control of automated processes
- Ensure proper maintenance and performance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation (analytical phase)
- Apply specialized expertise in areas such as electrophoresis and ANA platforms to troubleshoot issues and guide technical decisions
Client & Physician Partnership
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for physicians and clients on results and inquiries (post-analytical phase)
- Communicate complex technical information professionally, clearly, and with confidence
- Consistently meet and exceed customer expectations
Qualifications
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in science field of study
- 4 years of clinical laboratory experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Specialized knowledge of electrophoresis and ANA testing, with the ability to speak the technical language fluently
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer-service skills
