CIE USA-Century Plastics, a division of the global enterprise CIE Automotive, is seeking a talented Quality Engineer to join our team.


Reports to: Quality Manager


Primary Purpose: The Quality Engineer will ensure that the products produced meet both external and internal specifications and expectations.


Essential Functions:

  • Serves as a focal point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • First point of contact to customer issues.
  • Monitor and oversee liaison activities.
  • Monitor customer portals/systems and maintain scorecard file folder on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinate with customers, related with the quality performance trends and corrective actions.
  • Drive initiatives with plant teams in effective problem solving to improve quality performance
  • Work with customers to resolve customer concerns.
  • Work with customers and suppliers to ensure scorecards are in good standing.
  • Communicate production and quality issues with employees and supervision, when necessary.
  • Oversee and coordinate all internal and external sorting, containment and early product launch activities.
  • Lead problem solving and root cause analysis activities with plants, suppliers and customers to eliminate non-conformances.
  • Participate in initiatives with cross functional teams in the pursuit of effective problem solving and mistake proofing quality problems.
  • Develop and/or update quality alert and work instructions, as necessary.
  • Help drive closure of customer complaints/3L5W/8Ds.
  • Validate corrective action effectiveness and ensure all associate paperwork in updated and in place.
  • Ensure responses to customers and/or customer portals are provided in a timely manner.
  • Assist with daily plant floor.
  • Floor issues/concerns.
  • Clarification of specifications and customer requirements.
  • Product and process reviews.
  • Verify all signed-off master samples used for visual control.
  • Create, update, and maintain quality documentation, customer contact reports, customer sort reports, information relating to customer concerns, procedures, etc.
  • Assist in dimensional checks, GR&Rs, capability studies and reviews.
  • Provide training when needed.
  • Support supplier quality activities: SCNs, sorts, PPAPs
  • Customer visits, when needed.
  • Participate and improve in product development meetings to review engineering changes, manufacturing methods, planning and process specifications related with product quality.
  • Participate and support APQP meetings.
  • Review, understand and communicate all customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain PPAP/quality documents (process flows, control plans, pfmeas, work instructions, cell layouts, visual aids, job boards, job books, i-charts, etc..).
  • Create, update and maintain customer contact reports, customer sort reports, information relating to customer concerns, procedures, etc.
  • Support and work with program management, materials, customer service and production departments to plan and perform run@rate.
  • Work with plants and customers for AAR, Master Sample, Approvals, etc...
  • Support supplier quality activities: SCN, audits.
  • Responsible for support, review for accuracy and submittal of all APQP documentation required for PPAP, launch activities, etc.
  • Responsible for completing and submitting CR checklists.
  • Submit IMDS in portal.
  • Verify all signed-off master samples used for visual control.
  • Assist in dimensional checks, GR&Rs, capability studies and reviews.
  • Assist with daily plant floor with issues of concern reqarding requirements to ensure clarification.
  • Maintain monthly performance charts (measurables) per IATF 16949 standards for internal metrics, as well as customer metrics.
  • Develop and maintain quality systems according to standards and assist customers with any issues.
  • Develop visual standards, system criteria, for use in manufacturing operations in new launch ad maintain for serial life products.
  • Perform audits: LPAs, IATF Internal, PFMEA, control plan, VDA, customer specific, etc.
  • Ongoing testing of parts (functional, dimensional, physical properties, etc.).
  • Track/file certifications for gages/fixtures and measuring equipment along with yearly re-certifications.
  • Responsible to follow all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. quality manual, associated handbooks, procedures, etc.
  • Travel and provide support to customers to resolve problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned


Qualifications:

  • BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years experience in the automotive industry as a Quality Engineer
  • Tier 1 & 2 customer specific experience
  • 1 year(s) working knowledge of manufacturing operations in the plastics industry
  • IATF and VDA Certified Lead Auditor a plus
  • PPAP experience
  • Experience in Covisint,GM,Ford ,Stellantis, Lear, Magna and other systems as applicable

  • Ability to travel in the US and Canada
  • Knowledge of CCC


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours if needed.
