Who We Are:
Cidercade is a Texas chain of amusement centers with restaurants. They are essentially family entertainment center by day and arcade bars at night, with locations in Dallas, Arlington, Fort Worth, Austin, and Houston. All locations are packed with a mix of retro and modern arcade games that are free to play after paying a flat admission, but each location is completely unique. Some locations also include restaurants and additional activities and experiences. Cidercade is family-friendly during the day, but 18 and up starting at 9pm. Instead of charging at each machine, Cidercade has a flat rate admission charge and all of the games, activities, and experiences are free to play. The only exception is if a location has claw machines or redemption games for prizes. The cranes and machines providing tickets are extra.
Position Summary:
The Arcade Game Technician is responsible for cleaning, troubleshooting, repairing, and restoring arcade games, pinball machines, and amusement equipment.
Cidercade is hiring for part-time positions. The hours can be flexible depending on the candidate's availability. Some techs work one day per week while others might work 3-4. Part-time employees are eligible for paid-time-off (after waiting period), a shift meal, and discounts and perks.
Duties include:
- Performing technical assessments and troubleshooting problems of arcade games, pinball machines, amusement equipment, and redemption games
- Conducting electrical and mechanical work to repair and restore games and cabinets to an acceptable condition
- Performing preventative maintenance to get ahead of foreseeable problems
- Troubleshooting and repairing PCBs (printed circuit boards), motherboards, power supplies, buttons, joysticks, etc.
- Assessing, repairing, and installing CRT monitors
- Sourcing repair parts and components as needed
- Maintaining an organized inventory of spare parts
- Keeping an organized and clean workspace and facility
- Collaborating with team members to resolve complex technical problems
- Utilizing hand tools, specialized equipment, meters, and soldering irons to perform repairs
- Moving and replacing broken machines to ensure customer experience is industry-leading
- Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning - With over 300 machines and 20,000 guests per month, the games can get sticky. There are always games to be cleaned during downtime.
- Ensure all equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with operational standards
- Assemble, install, and configure new arcade and amusement equipment
- Update game software and adjust machine settings as needed for optimal performance
- Implementing long-term solutions to recurring problems
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records
- Assist with moving, repositioning, and reconfiguring arcade equipment as required by operations or by request of the events manager
- Respond to guest-reported issues promptly and professionally
- Utilize appropriate customer service skills when approach about guest about machine issues
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Expert knowledge and skillset on the repair and maintenance of arcade games, pinball machines, and amusement equipment
- Skilled in electro-mechanical applications
- Experience with PCB repair
- Experience with CRT repair
- Strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to perform work on ladders
- Ability to handle equipment up to 250 lbs.
- Knowledgeable on OSHA regulations and safety practices
- Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment
- Can effectively communicate with Management, Team Members, and Guests
Experience level:
- Preferred: 3 years minimum experience repairing vintage / classic arcade games, pinball machines, and modern amusement equipment
- The pay range is based on experience.
