The Sales Director will be directly responsible for delivering sales growth, building & nurturing strategic relationships, and developing sales plans for our growing Target business. In addition, this Sales Director will have 2-4 direct reports, responsible for BJ’s, convenience, dollar, and drug accounts. Key Responsibilities:
- Account Management
- Partner with senior executives and leaders to grow their business through strategic planning, performance analysis, inventory insights, exclusive deals, events, and new product launches.
- Serve as a strategic consultant/account manager accountable for driving business growth across a portfolio of strategic sellers.
- Conduct deep dive analysis on issues effecting seller business performance and implement corrective actions
- Drive performance against P&L
- Levers including gross merchandise value (GMV) and contribution profit
- Develop strong and trusting relationships with partners
- Serve as the account quarterback working across the organization to solve issues, address pain points and implement growth initiatives
- Develop/maintain key relationships
- Present & promote products/services
- Serve as main point of contact for Target across multiple categories
- Resolve customer problems/complaints
- Develop and coach team members both individually and collectively, with direct oversight of 2–4 reports.
- Ensure selling preparation & execution across the channel
- Advocate for the needs of the channel internally
- Sales Growth & Planning
- Achieve sales targets and KPIs (account & channel)
- Partner with Sales Operations to maintain sales forecast
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop annual sales plan
- Analyze sales performance & incorporate into planning/selling efforts
- Monitor supply/shipping through delivery
- Ad Hoc Responsibilities as Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field Requirements:
- 15 years of post-collegiate professional experience
- 10 years of account sales experience including 5 years’ selling to Target, ideally within the CPG Food industry
- Excellent selling, communication, & negotiation skills
- Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills
- Understanding of digital media, especially Roundel, and how to incorporate into overall sales plan
- Time management & organizational skills to prioritize efforts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools
- Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Role will be remote based in the Minneapolis area.
- Role will be expected to visit corporate office (NJ) on a 6–8-week cadence, as well as attend major trade shows & team events What do we offer:
