Duties
- Greet patients warmly and verify their appointment details with professionalism and courtesy
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing procedures including medical collection efforts
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software like Athenahealth or Dentrix
- Review and update medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages
- Assist with documentation review, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and data entry to support accurate medical billing and coding processes
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, insurance documents, and office supplies in a professional manner
- Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and managing office supplies
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred, especially in dental or hospital clinics
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and insurance verification processes
- Experience with medical billing, collections, Medicare procedures, and care plan documentation is advantageous
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key typing)
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations with integrity and confidentiality
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to assist diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks
