Assistant Steel Project Manager – Ciarra Construction

Ciarra Construction is hiring an Assistant Steel Project Manager to support the execution of structural steel projects from handoff through final installation. This role works closely with the Steel Project Manager to help coordinate detailing, fabrication, and erection in alignment with the Steel Division production schedule. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to grow in structural steel project management, with the ability to support coordination efforts, track key milestones, and help keep projects moving efficiently and predictably.

Key Responsibilities

• Support structural steel projects from turnover through final installation.
• Assist in maintaining alignment between detailing, fabrication, and erection schedules.
• Help ensure continuous workflow by following up on missing information, approvals, and decisions.
• Track submittal approvals, RFI resolution, detailing releases, fabrication start dates, ship dates, and erection sequencing.
• Identify potential risks and escalate issues to the Project Manager with proposed solutions.
• Coordinate with Superintendent and fabrication leadership to support field and shop alignment.
• Support communication between General Contractor, Engineer, Detailer, Fabrication, and Field teams.
• Participate in coordination meetings and help drive follow-ups and accountability.
• Assist in identifying scope changes and support COR and change order preparation.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in construction project management, structural steel, or related field experience.
• Foundational understanding of detailing workflows, fabrication sequencing, and erection logistics.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and revisions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple moving parts.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Monday.com, or similar systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to structural steel projects or fabrication environments.
• Familiarity with Tekla or SDS/2.
• Experience supporting shop and field coordination.
• Understanding of AISC standards and basic erection practices.
