What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interior Designer Project Manager position at Chused & Co?
OVERVIEW:
Chused & Co is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Interior Designer who will work as a collaborative two-person team with a Senior Designer to support them on projects from start to finish, along with the support of other teams. These teams include a Procurement/Project Management team, an Interior Architect, and a drafting team who will provide additional support as needed. Additionally, these designers may be required to manage smaller projects on their own.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Engagement:
- Maintain professionalism in interactions with clients and colleagues
- Participate in client meetings and presentations
- Assist the team in preparing client presentations and documentation
- Prepare meeting agendas and ensure accurate meeting notes are taken and distributed to team members
Project Delivery
- Participate in all stages of the design process
- Develop innovative design concepts that align with project goals and budgets under the guidance of senior staff
- Create floor plans, elevations in both CAD and Sketch-Up
- Produce 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings
- Source materials, and FFE for projects and create corresponding schedules
- Support the Construction Administration phase by reviewing RFIs, Submittals, and reviewing Shop Drawings to be reviewed by senior designers
- Attend on-site visits and field reviews, providing direction to outside contractors and vendors under senior team members’ guidance
- Meet all design deliverable deadlines
- Draw custom furniture pieces to be shared with fabricators
- Responsible for maintaining client presentations in Canva

1. Attend trade shows and vendor events to stay current on new vendors and sourcing opportunities.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated work experience with Interior Design and/or Architectural Firms with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Similar
- Advanced Proficiency in Design Software such as CAD, SketchUp, and other rendering programs.
- Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, with a self starter mindset and strong follow through.
- Strong knowledge of architecture & design principles and practices
- Possesses a proactive mindset, anticipating potential obstacles and developing solutions to address them
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently, ensuring that all projects are completed within set deadlines. Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on quality or accuracy.
- Must have valid driver’s license and comfortable driving in both NYC and outside of the city.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
