The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly organized and passionate individual to serve as a founding Program Lead. This
position is hyper-focused on the development of an individual program offered at KIPP NC Teacher U, our
Educator Preparation Program (EPP). The ideal candidate understands the value of cohesion and knows
how to create that for participants in a set of offerings.
The Program Lead will report directly to the Managing Director, Educator Preparation Programs and will
be responsible for reviewing and providing oversight for all coursework, observing and providing
feedback to faculty, and teaching coursework within a given program. As a founding staff member, the
Program Lead will need to lean into flexibility as the exact role and responsibilities are expected to
change over time.

Key Responsibilities
- Program Design: You will work closely with the Managing Director, Educator Preparation Programs and Operations Associate to ensure Teacher U, the academic programs you are assigned, and the related courses within it are finalized with accuracy and integrity. This includes reviewing proposed coursework and providing feedback to designers. It also includes leveraging course readiness checklists to cross reference and set due dates for course assignments in alignment with the program calendar, ongoing maintenance program technology platforms (e.g. Canvas, Google site), and development of program advertisement materials.
- Curriculum Assessment & Evaluation: You will coordinate the ongoing assessment and evaluation of student learning and your assigned program outcomes. This includes collecting and compiling data required for regulatory bodies, overseeing processes for self-study and reflection, and facilitating the preparation of short- and long-term program plans in service of continuous improvement.
- Faculty Development: You will work closely with the Managing Director, Educator Preparation Programs to engage in hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of all faculty working in the program you are assigned at Teacher U. This includes facilitating onboarding training on key knowledge and skills, development and ongoing coaching and support, conducting observations, and sharing insights that inform annual performance reviews.
- Course Instruction: You will teach courses within the program you are assigned. This includes delivering instruction virtually in the evenings, preparing for facilitation including, but not limited to, completing online pre-work, modifying provided session plans and preparing materials, updating the course syllabus and Canvas with any changes to pre-work and other information about instruction that deviates from the provided materials, and maintaining familiarity with up-to-date academic priorities policies in the student handbook and terms and conditions. It also includes scoring candidates assessments by the set deadlines and ensuring that all scores and comments are recorded in alignment with faculty policies.
- Candidate Experience: You will ensure exceptional candidate experience in KIPP NC Teacher U before, during, and after enrollment in the program you are assigned. This includes organizing cohort gatherings within your assigned program, hosting office hours, and using ongoing data collection to suggest and support programmatic improvement. It also includes communicating with candidates regarding missing assignments, absences, and assignment revisions, responding to emails from candidates and colleagues within two business days, hosting office hours, and visiting candidate classrooms to engage in observations for continued candidate support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 5 years of related experience in a program area at KIPP NC Teacher U including special education, elementary education, middle school literacy education.
- Holds an active teaching certificate in the state of North Carolina in a license area that a program area results in including K-12 Special Education, Elementary Education, and Middle School Literacy.
- Experience coordinating and implementing new programs is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using data to inform decision-making and drive improvement efforts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to create and utilize project plans that include a high level of detail.
- Understanding of and willingness to work in both rural and urban communities, including exhibiting resourcefulness and willingness to travel up to five hours within North Carolina multiple days per month based on schools’ needs.
- Must live in North Carolina and have the ability and willingness to travel across the state on a monthly basis.
