Job Summary
The Early Learning Center Assistant Teacher/Floater is responsible for assisting the teaching staff and program directors as needed to provide a consistent smooth flow during the program day as well as planning for future events.

Position-Specific
- Attend provided professional development training.
- Assist in creating a safe and healthy physical environment for learning using the curriculum room arrangement guidelines.
- Assist with inventory, cleaning, and organization of classrooms and resource rooms.
- Assist teachers with preparation of classroom materials and as assigned to assist with classroom projects.
- Provide breaks to teaching staff as needed during program day.
- May substitute in classrooms as needed.
- Assist office staff with various tasks.
- Help, as needed, with set-up or closing of program each week.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of young children, their families, and those who work in early childhood education.
- Serve as mediator and role model who guides children’s behavior and teaches them conflict resolution skills.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a childcare center preferred.
- Flexible, dedicated, dependable, and highly motivated personality.
Physical and Health Requirements
In accordance with licensing requirements, individuals serving in this role must be able to safely perform the physical and health-related duties required in an early childhood environment. Staff must be able to:
- Actively supervise children and engage in daily childcare activities, both indoors and outdoors.
- Stoop, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor to interact with children during play and learning activities.
- Lift, carry, and assist children weighing up to approximately 40 pounds when necessary for caregiving, safety, or classroom activities.
- Get up and down from the floor frequently throughout the day.
- Navigate stairs safely, both ascending and descending, when applicable in the facility.
- Stand for extended periods of time, up to one hour at a time.
- See, hear, and respond quickly to children and environmental situations to ensure safety and supervision.
- Respond appropriately during high-stress or emergency situations, including following all facility safety procedures.
- Maintain required classroom and program documentation and records.
Staff must also meet the following health and professional readiness expectations:
- Be free from physical, mental, or emotional conditions that would prevent them from protecting the health, safety, and welfare of children.
- Demonstrate emotional maturity, sound judgment, and an understanding of children’s developmental needs.
- Be able to perform job duties without impairment due to alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs, or other substances.
- Comply with all health documentation requirements, including tuberculosis screening if required by role.
